About Miller Street Dance Academy

Building character, confidence, and community through dance since 1994.

Miller Street Dance Academy was built on the belief that dance education should be both high-quality and uplifting. Our mission goes beyond technique—we strive to shape well-rounded individuals who develop a deep love for dance while excelling in academics and embracing the value of community service.

Our classes are diverse, age-appropriate, and engaging, ensuring every student grows in multiple genres of dance while having fun along the way. Just as important as choreography and performance, we emphasize life skills: respect for self and others, teamwork, and giving back to the community.

At Miller Street, we aim to inspire confident, compassionate dancers who carry what they learn in the studio into every aspect of their lives.

Our History

1994

21 students. One dream.

Miller Street Dance Academy was founded by Michelle Soutier in 1994 with just 21 students under the name Enchanting Dancers. Located on a quaint street in Pineville, NC called Miller Street, the studio quickly outgrew both its space and its name.

1998

New name. New studio.

In 1998, Michelle relocated to the Tower Place shopping center, carrying a piece of her history forward as Miller Street Dance Academy.

2003

By 2003, the studio was again in search of a larger home and found the ideal location at the corner of Providence Road and Ardrey Kell in the heart of South Charlotte. Enrollment flourished as families moving further south discovered the studio's stellar reputation and the impressive accomplishments of Miller Street dancers both in the studio and beyond.

2009

By 2009, after 15 years of training local dancers, Michelle began to see the legacy of her work take shape. Many graduates were ready to step into teaching roles, and with continued population growth across the South Carolina border, Miller Street expanded with a second location at Baxter Village in Fort Mill.

2010

With two locations established and enrollment rising at the Charlotte studio, the Providence location expanded in 2010 from three studios to five. Not to be outdone, Baxter Village added a fourth studio the following year, keeping pace with growing demand.

2018

In April 2018, Miller Street opened its Rea Farms location in South Charlotte, a nearly 10,000 sq. ft. facility featuring five large dance rooms, designed to train Charlotte's finest students in a world-class environment.

2026

Today, Miller Street Dance Academy serves nearly 3,000 students across two studios with multiple dance rooms. From a tiny street in Pineville to two thriving locations, Michelle continues to pursue the next step for the studio, honored to provide exceptional dance instruction and inspire the next generation.
